Hi, I’m Shoua Xiong and I am one of the Optimal Performance Health Care Center chiropractor assistants. I joined Dr. Van Westen and the team in March of 2019. As a chiropractor assistant/patient manager, one of my main goals is to make sure that patients are coming in for their treatment and are satisfied with it. Our patients’ health is always my top priority, so I stay in close connection with Dr. Van Westen and patients at all time – like a quarterback giving communication and planning things so the clinic can run smoothly and efficiently.
It is important that I make sure all of our patients’ needs are being met, and I know I’m accomplishing this when the patient leaves with a smile on their face and with satisfaction. It is important for me to build a connection and trust bond with our patients. Doing so allows us to talk freely and understand if the patient’s needs are being met.
I was born in Thailand, and my parents moved us to the US when I was 2 years old. I was able to go back and travel the villages/moutain side of Thailand and Laos where the Hmong community lives visiting familes and relatives. It was truly breathtaking and a shocking, yet amazing, experience. To see and experience that lifestyle I just wished I could help and educate them on taking better care of their health.
I also, come from a family of 12 (7 sisters and 4 brothers) and in that, I am the 6th (middle) child. I previously attended the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee for 3 years pursuing a initial degree in Early Childhood Education. After leaving UWM I took a different career path in the medical field. Prior to working at Optimal Performance Health Care Center, I worked at a smaller Hmong community clinic, and when the clinic closed I was given the amazing opportunity to join Dr. Van Westen and the team at Optimal Performance Health Care Center.
When I’m not working at the clinic I take care of my grandma as her personal care assistant. Aside from that I also do modeling work, where I get the amazing opportunity to work with local photographers. In the summer, I also help my mother with her farmer’s market, making boquets and wedding orders for customers. My hobbies include fishing, hiking, traveling, poetry, baking, and taking care of my two dogs.
I plan on staying and working with Dr. Van Westen to continue learning and providing the best of care for our patients in the future, and eventually expanding our center to something bigger and better, while continuing to serve and educate our patients with our gentle and effective treatment at our center.
